FREAKISH

alright listen. 2 things...
first thing is, my bday is Monday, my golden bday, 31 on the 31st.
I'm asking people to donate to Susan G Komen (http://www.info-komen.org/goto/shelleyrschulz), GO DONATE.
My Aunt Charlotte passed away from breast cancer. She was an amazing woman, who was thankful and never complained. She didn't tell the family she was sick until she was on her way to heaven. She was a woman of strong faith and led me to my faith as well. i truly believe she is my angel, she would be so proud of me. She was basically the family care  taker, she was there when you needed her, for whatever you need her for. She was an inspiration to me. She taught me to be happy with what I have. and to be faithful, and believe in who I am. her headstone says "Gone Home". and when my time comes, I'll be there with her. but i don't want breast caner to be the reason. i know that there is a cure out there. so please donate and help find it!

second thing... the music video you are going to watch, its old, but its my fav. this band is my favorite, I've been listening to them since as far back as i can remember. i connect with the emotion and the words. happy, sad, aggressive, all of it. i have a tattoo of the lyrics "I'll sing out my song in case the birds wish to sing along", it's from this song. for those of you who know me, you know i love to sing. and i just want to sing with all my heart. i went to the saves the day show a couple days ago, and met the man who wrote those lyrics (along with the bass player and the drummer, all of which are intelligent and freakin talented as balls). i asked him to read them off my tattoo. and he said "that is one of my favorite sentences I've ever written" i said, "mine too". it was so surreal. such a geek, i know. but it was truly awesome. now if i could just meet Ben Folds....

i run my half marathon on Sunday! eeeekkkk... wish me luck.

blog this!

check that out! that's me at the top of Half Dome in Yosemite! i totally did it. it was all kinds of brutal, physically and mentally. but it was such an awesome feeling to get to the top.

it has inspired me to do more. i will be doing that half marathon this year and taking donations, as my birthday gift, for the cancer society. my aunt passed of breast cancer when i was younger. and she made such an impact on my life that i want to honor her. although i know she's with me everyday.

i have also decided to record a song with my most amazing and talented friend Travis. he gets me, and he gets music, and i couldn't ask for a better partner. <3. he suggested we record "The Very Thought Of You" by Billie Holiday. its a jazz standard and we're going to slow it down and make it all pretty and acoustic.
i have also started donating my time to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. and my little sister is amazing! i'm so excited to be a part of a child's life and just hang out. kids say the most amazing things and i hope that our friendship lasts for ever. i know, super cheesy.

also i went to the Bon Iver show and it was amazing. truly moving and inspiring. his music is monumental and calm all at the same time. it was a 9 piece and everyone played more that 3 instruments, and there were 2 drummers (who even played more then the drums at the same time they were drumming), and everyone did back up vocals. i can't wait till they come back, i must see them again.
on that note, listen and enjoy.

on repeat

yes, hello?

i have been working on some of my "goals" for 2011
  • i'm on the 4th Harry Potter- yes i know i'm slacking, but i'm reading more then one book at a time, mostly because my ADD needs me to keep it moving. Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang, and You Can Get Arrested For That
  • I've got a tan folks, a real live tan.
  • i'm hiking half dome in less then a month! feeling good about it
  • i can officially run 5 miles with out stopping- so my training is coming along well for my half marathon in october
  • i added a goal! i'm officially a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters! i hope to have a "Little Sister" soon

well well well, this song rules. been listening to it on repeat. bopping around to it in my car. playing it over and over. as we all know i have a deep connection to music. it comes from- well my life- my folks love music. my mom loves musicals, opera, the Beatles, Barbra s. stuff to sing to, because shes a great singer. my dad loves music that has no words- jazz- stuff that's only music. and i just love music that makes me feel. even the sad stuff, such a form of expression.

lipstick and life

alright. i get it. blogging isn't hard.
i guess its more time consuming then it is hard. i thought to my self the other day "its been a while since i wrote on here last, not that anyone cares, but none the less". so here i am. writing.
a lot has happened, and nothing has happened at all.
First thing is I moved!  i got myself sweet studio in Culver City, its only 2 miles away from work, and 5 miles away from the beach. needless to say i'm stoked on my new place. i move on April 16th. it has its own parking spot, and a pool! my first time living on my own. i went to go see Noah and the Whale last month, it was amazing. they performed some of their new stuff, i hadn't really heard any of it, and i totally loved it. so the next day i went on line and bought the actual CD. yes, they still sell actual hard copies of cd's.
i went to Santa Anita Race Track for work, i'd never  even been to a race track before i my life. its was so fun. i can see how people would get addicted to that. but it made me uncomfortable with people walking around with their kids, and babies!  babies have no place at a race track. i bet on horse for the first time. it was only 2 bucks, and i lost, but it was still exciting.
there were a lot of birthdays this last month, one of which i wore lipstick too. for the first time (are you noticing a theme of firsts).
i've been having a great 2 months- god is good- and i'm happy, its gross.

this video is pretty much awesome. and i love the song- enjoy!

In The Dirt

I'm ready ..who's with me!
2011 is off the a great start.  a couple of amazing birthdays! making new friends. an amazing wedding. spending time with old friends. i mean i have been feeling so good lately that i cant remember the last time I've felt this happy for days on end.
  • i got out of debt! which is a huge weight lifted off my shoulder. so now i can start saving up for a trip somewhere in 2012.
  • my good friend Travis is coming out here soon and we are going to write some music together. and i couldn't ask for any one more on the same wave length as i'am to help me write. and i love the man!
  • I'm carrying a small purse, and it's amazing! no more shoulder pain, and its just the bare minimum of what i "need" to carry around with me
  • I'm going to sign up for that half marathon in Feb and i start training this Saturday. a beach work out Saturday morning with my friend Kate to get me going!
  • I'm almost to the middle of Harry Potter # 3. I'm a bit behind on this, but it was such a beautiful weekend i had to be outside playing around with friends.
  • I'm going to one of my best friends weddings in February in AZ, and going to have a great weekend with a good friend, take in some sun and laughs.
  • and I'm addicted to S. Carey see song below
alright people, that's an update for you. I'll keep you posted on how it all pans out. i cant wait to get to running and writting and reading and saving!

wow i sound lame.
now listen to this or die.

you want a piece of me...

Well..it's 2011, and I'm going to murder this year. I'm going to do a ton of stuff and it's going to be awesome!
So here's what I have in mind:
  1. Carry a small purse. Big purses hurt my shoulders, and I can never find my stupid keys. I mean why do we insist on carrying all that stuff, do we even know what we have in our purse!
  2. Run a half marathon. I already have it picked out, the "rock n roll" half marathon. Its in downtown LA and it's on October 30th, a day before my bday. So it will be awesome. there is live music every mile marker on the path, and I plan on picking a charity for you all to donate to, to keep me motivated and as your bday gift to me!
  3. Read all the Harry Potter's. I've already read the first one and the second one in December, so I had a bit of a head start, but have you seen a couple of those books, they're huge (that's what she said, sorry)
  4. Get back into ice skating- or at least try to go once a month. I used to ice skate when I was younger, like real deal ice skate. Get up before school and I had a coach, competitive ice skate. I love it. This will be really good for me. I'm kind of picky so I might get my own skates, but I think this will motivate me to go more.
  5. Save up a few bucks so I can take a trip in 2012- I have no idea where I want to go, but I need to travel out of the country. I've only been out once, and I went to Costa Rica. which was amazing. I need to get out into the world. I'm leaning towards somewhere I can drink wine. lol. Or somewhere Asian. suggestions?
  6. Get a tan? I say that as a question because I'm not positive I want to do that. You know me, I'm pale, and I actually like it. But I thought it might be a good experiment. lol. Perhaps I will read my Harry Potters in the sun! Kill two birds with one stone.
  7. Write a song- well kind of. I can't play an instrument, but I like to sing and write lyrics, so I'll need a partner for this project. If any of you know anyone who is willing to song write with me "hollar". I might suck and that's fine, I'll still completely enjoy it!
Well that's it folks...2011 here I come
